What is the Stand Tall fall prevention program?

Each year, one in four adults aged 65 and older experiences a fall, and that’s just the reported incidents. Many seniors may hesitate to report a fall due to embarrassment or failure to recognize potential injuries. The Stand Tall program is dedicated to reducing the number of falls by educating seniors, their families, and community staff about prevention strategies.

The program provides a comprehensive understanding of falls, exploring their common causes and contributing factors. As part of the initiative, by resident request, a certified fall prevention specialist conducts home safety assessments to identify and address fall hazards, creating safer living environments.

Participants also learn about practical strategies to reduce risks, including exercises to improve balance, techniques for fall recovery, and access to local resources and support. A hands-on workshop simulates fall scenarios, empowering participants to practice safe methods for getting up independently, and with assistance, thereby minimizing the risk of further injury.

To further support fall prevention, GOAT Exercise collaborates with innovative technology companies, offering seniors discounted access to cutting-edge fall prevention technology to be place directly into their living spaces.

Through education, hands-on practice, and access to advanced resources, the Stand Tall program aims to empower older adults to live safer, more confident lives.
